Last updated: August 19, 2025

This Privacy Policy explains how Great Toronto Movers Inc. (“GTM”, “we”, “us”) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information in connection with our website https://greattorontomovers.ca/ (the “Site”) and our moving services in the Greater Toronto Area. Our practices are guided by Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial laws. By using the Site or communicating with us, you agree to this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.

Who we are

Great Toronto Movers Inc. (“GTM”, “we”, “us”). For full contact details, see Contact at the end of this Policy.

What this Policy covers

This Policy applies to personal information we collect through:

  • the Site (contact and quote forms);
  • email, phone, and SMS when you request a quote, book a move, or ask for support; and
  • in-person information needed to plan and perform your move.

This Policy does not replace the service terms that apply to booked moves (e.g., quotes, scope, liability). Those are provided with your booking confirmation.

Personal information we collect

We collect information you voluntarily provide, such as:

  • Identity & contact: name, email, phone.
  • Move details: moving date, origin/destination addresses, move size, special requests/building rules.
  • Communications: messages you send us by email, phone, or forms. We do not collect file uploads via the Site and we do not record calls. We also collect limited technical information when you visit the Site (e.g., IP address processed as described under Analytics and server logs for security and diagnostics).

How we use personal information (purposes)

We use personal information to:

  • prepare quotes and plan/perform moving services;
  • communicate with you about your request or booking;
  • operate, secure, and improve the Site; and
  • comply with legal, tax, and record-keeping obligations.

Where required, we rely on your consent; otherwise, we use information for reasonable purposes related to providing the requested services, consistent with PIPEDA.

Sharing & disclosures

We do not sell or rent your personal information. We use trusted service providers (e.g., website hosting, email/SMS, secure storage, and—if applicable—payment or invoicing) who process information for us and under our instructions. Some processing may occur in Canada or the United States. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, property, and safety. We do not share your information with third parties for their own marketing.

International transfers

Our Site is hosted by third-party providers (currently GoDaddy). Some processing may occur outside of Canada (e.g., in the United States) and may be subject to the laws of those jurisdictions.

Retention

We retain personal information only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes described above or as required by law. When it is no longer needed, we securely delete, anonymise, or archive it in accordance with our retention practices.

Security

We employ reasonable physical, organisational, and technical safeguards proportionate to the sensitivity of the information (e.g., encrypted transmission, access controls, staff awareness). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.

Server logs & diagnostics

Our servers automatically record limited, short‑lived logs (e.g., IP address, timestamps, URLs, and error codes) to help us secure the Site and diagnose issues. These logs are used for security and operational purposes only and are retained for no longer than necessary.

Your choices & rights

You may request to access or correct your personal information and may withdraw consent where applicable, subject to legal or contractual restrictions. To make a request, email our Privacy Officer at info@greattorontomovers.ca.

How to make a request: Please include your name, contact information, and a description of what you’re asking for. We may ask for reasonable identification so we don’t disclose information to the wrong person. We aim to respond within 30 days.

If you have concerns we can’t resolve, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada for guidance or to make a complaint. Website: priv.gc.ca | Phone: 1‑800‑282‑1376

Analytics (WP Statistics)

We use WP Statistics to measure Site traffic. Our configuration is privacy-friendly:

  • No cookies are set for analytics.
  • IP addresses are anonymised and/or hashed; full user-agent strings are not stored.
  • Aggregated statistics only (e.g., page views, referrers); no personal profiles are created.
  • Local storage: analytics data stays on our server and is not shared with third parties.

We use these aggregated metrics to operate and improve the Site. Analytics records are purged automatically after 180 days. If our analytics setup changes (e.g., to include third-party tools or non-essential cookies), we will update this Policy and seek consent where required.

Fonts & third-party content (Google Fonts via Slider Revolution)

For consistent typography, some pages may load Google Web Fonts provided by Google. When your browser fetches these fonts, Google may receive your IP address and device information needed to deliver the fonts. If your browser does not support web fonts, a standard system font will be used. For details, see Google’s Fonts FAQ and Privacy Policy.

We do not embed other third-party content (e.g., Google Maps, YouTube) on the Site at this time.

Cookies & local storage

We aim to avoid non-essential cookies. Our analytics are cookieless. Functional cookies or similar technologies may be used only for security and basic Site operation. If we introduce non-essential cookies (e.g., advertising/remarketing), we will provide notice and obtain consent where required.

Québec residents

If you are located in Québec, your personal information may be communicated outside Québec (e.g., to service providers in other provinces or the United States) to provide the Site and our services. You may contact us to access or correct your information or to ask questions about cross-border transfers.

Third-party links

The Site may link to third-party websites (e.g., municipal resources). We are not responsible for their privacy practices or content.

Changes to this Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted here with a new “Last updated” date. Material changes will be highlighted.
